Home and Work Life

As usual, Torchwood knows how to surprise me. After a year of waiting, Rhys finally returned to us, fortunately safe and sound, though he doesn't seem to remember much from just before or during his absence. He apparently came back through the Rift, and I'm really glad to see him again. After he was gone for so long, it's good to know he's safe again. He made me feel safe again when I felt scared, and I think we all have a brighter future ahead.

I'm still troubled by other issues... Jack wants me to tell him more about what happens to me on the team and out of work. I've also gotten a cat who I have called Samantha, thanks to Rose. I've always wanted a cat. She has the softest white fur and is very affectionate. I'm lucky to have her around the flat; she seems content to stay at home. I did go out to visit Lucia at times. Another time recently I went out by myself, I don't remember much except a policeman escorting me off the street. I made it safely back to the Hub after that, probably drunk since I passed out after that.

I've had several investigations going. A while ago, I met up with a blowfish who had an artifact he claimed to be of Sycorax origin. It certainly looks like it, though who knows at what point this artifact was discovered. The Sycorax have been here as far back as London and Torchwood One, though there was also the encounter at Torchwood Three last year. The blowfish and weevils, of course, come through the Rift the most of any other aliens. That's one thing that, along with the Rift, it seems won't change for us.

Time Out

I spent a couple of days with Lucia after I went over her flat. It was good for me to spend some time with someone, after all, I was used to going home to Rhys when work had stressed me out too much and I wanted to have someone to talk to. The work setting doesn't always do that for me, especially when the others aren't around. I thought about Suzie who had become too obsessed with work so that she had lost perspective. Jack chose me to replace her. A part of that is keeping a connection with the world outside Torchwood, but also balancing that with paying attention to work. I know that I can do this job no matter what comes at us.

Life After

So... a lot of things have changed recently... I made friends with Lucia Moretti. Shortly after that we discovered Lisa had returned from the dead. Somehow victims from Torchwood One, humans converted into Cybermen, had been resurrected, even Lisa who we had killed in the Hub after she tried to convert us. Now Lisa is fully human, no sign of her Cyberman state remains. Though she has lost her way, since she can't have Ianto back and resume her life with him.

After Lucia left the Hub I stayed over at her flat. Before that she had been looking after Mica at Torchwood, since Gray broke into Mica's house leaving a dead dog in her bed. Mica was afraid to stay there even after her mother renovated the house and we had already put in extra security measures there. She ran away from home back to the Hub, and then went off in the TARDIS with the Doctor and Rose, taking her puppies Panda and Humphrey with her. Soon after that Lucia had an argument with Ianto over her friendship with Mica, leading to Lucia leaving as well.

I was more lost than ever not having Lucia around or Mica. I kept having those dreams that someone was coming after me in the Hub. Sometimes in the dreams I would turn around and Gray was there pulling me back to the cells. In other visions Rhys was there instead, either way I would wake up scared. One time last week I called up Lucia and she told me I could come over. I told her what was happening, talked about how much I missed Rhys. He was the only one there all the time since college even when I had to stay at work or whatever. I saw Jack and Ianto or Owen and Tosh together knowing I was out of place. I know how Lisa and Lucia feel, not having a place there.

Suzie Costello said this to me that night in front of the Hub. I didn't understand then, but I do now.

"How can you do any other job after this one?"

"Cos it gets inside you. You do this job for long enough, and you
end up thinking, "How come we get all the Weevils and bollocks and shit?" Is
that what alien life is? Filth? But maybe there's better stuff out there, brilliant stuff,beautiful stuff. Just ... they don't come here. This planet's so dirty, that's all we get- the shit."

Answers

We found out for sure that Gray had come back when we got word from Agent Wyte that he had been captured, along with John. Gray had found Andy and revived him from the coma he'd been in the past ten months. Apparently Andy is once again working with his master. They sent John and Wyte back, only this time John is a woman... and as attractive as ever. The two of them were set up as a married couple with a house and everything, however, they had no memory of living this life. In Splott, of all places.

As for the team, we've got to be prepared for the possibility that Gray would come to find us next. Since his goal was to get to Jack, he must want to get us again. I have a few scores to settle with him and Andy; if it means being put in a cell again, so be it. I spend enough of my time already down by the cells, or else at the Hub. It feels less isolated than... well... home. No, I'm not going to hide away or leave the team, because I need them.

After nine months, we haven't been able to find Rhys either. Lots of people have asked about him though. Our theory is he was taken by the Rift, maybe somehow it would send him back. And then there's the mysterious Lucia Moretti. I've talked to her and Jack... seems like something they should sort out themselves.

Memories

We have seen an increase in activity around Torchwood since Jack's arrival at the Hub. I met with him first, and introduced him to the rest of the team. He has fitted in very well, even getting close to Ianto. Soon after Jack arrived, John appeared in the area asking me for help after he got injured. We found him and brought him back to the Hub, where his condition was stabilised. It was quite an event to have Jack and Ianto, Owen and Tosh all there at the same time. I couldn't just leave him without any company, could I. So I spent time with him... quite a lot of time in fact. I did need to talk to him, and more. John did leave eventually to go back to Wyte...

Ianto's niece Mica got in contact with us when she sighted a weevil at her house. Since no one was at home with her, she came back with us to the Hub after we caught the weevil so it couldn't attack her. For several days, Mica stayed at the Hub until her mother, Ianto's sister Rhi, got back in touch with us and we were able to return Mica to her home. While Jack, Ianto and I were at her house, we ended up telling Rhi about what we do at Torchwood. I suppose it was time for her to know, since she was wondering what was keeping Ianto so busy all this time. I'd told Rhys, Andy and my parents about Torchwood before, though my parents were soon retconned along with the rest of the guests at my and Rhys' wedding after all the alien activity that went on there. At least I had Rhys to help me recover from what that alien Nostrovite did to me before the wedding... It seems we can never keep ourselves and our families safe from aliens or Rift activity for long. Even Rhys has disappeared and I'm not sure if we can bring him back.

I talked to Jack about where we stand in contrast to his universe. I had a chance to tell him about Gray, who is still on all of our minds. Jack deserves to know what Gray did, in case he returns someday.

Promise

Ianto and I have always been close. At this point he is the one person left besides me who comes from here, the same Torchwood in our universe. He was here when I first joined. We shared the work many times when Jack was missing or just away from the Hub, which seems to happen more than he was here. When Gray locked us up, we were put in the same cell for a time. He helped me through that experience. Even as Gray tried to drive the team apart, Ianto was there for me. We were so close... and then after we were released, I didn't see him as much anymore. He's always in the archives working and I wasn't sure if I should disturb him. I was drawn to Owen instead, especially since Tosh was so often away or busy.

Yet we did meet yesterday. I could tell he was still not himself. He misses Jack so he hides away in the archives where people won't find him. I often do the opposite, I go out and talk with other people fielding calls and visits from aliens and time travellers. One visitor is Jack who just arrived from a parallel universe. He, like Owen and Tosh before him, or the parallel Ianto, seems to have no way back to where he originally came from. I wonder if the rest of the team will accept him into our world. However, since some have disappeared without a trace, I'm grateful to see others arriving.

On 3-4 May of last year, soon after being released from imprisonment by Gray, the Torchwood team began to recover and start their re-integration into the outside world, though still being kept in hospital by the agents Blaq and Wyte. Gwen Cooper communicated with a parallel Rhys Williams and her own husband Rhys, as well as Grace Holloway, while Captain John Hart visited PC Andy. Jack, Owen, Tosh and Ianto also dealt with the aftermath of the attacks.

Possibilities

I don't see anyone as all bad; that's why I try to give everyone a chance. Anyone we come across deserves to be heard, though I trust my team to help me decide who is trustworthy.

Just yesterday I met up with Jasmine Pierce. She had previously been taken by the fairies, but came back later, finding me. She didn't know where her family was, so I took her to the Hub, where she's been staying since then. We also met Margygjar there who was testing out a magnetic accelerator. He has been communicating with us since last year. During the incident with Gray, while we were in the cells, we often talked with him as well as Davros, who were surprisingly sympathetic. I still want to resolve things with Gray, if we can even find him, or Jack.

Time

We've had a lot going on since the Christmas party, where I met up with Peter Guppy again and we had a very nice time with Grey, Cleo and TARDIS. Kasia and Christina were also there, and the Doctor. The Doctor came to visit, another parallel version, who appeared to have a lot on his mind. He was very kind to each of us though, wanting to know if we were safe. I was invited back to Cleo' s place for Christmas, while for New Year's I spent some time with Owen. I felt better to know there was someone there for me. Tosh was away for quite some time along with Juro, but she's back now. Ianto's there at the Hub too, though I haven't seen him as much as Owen...

Lord Rassilon came in the Hub yesterday, brought there by Lilly. He wanted to bring back Gallifrey using energy from the Rift. He used his power to hurt Owen, throw him the length of the room at the Hub, and then heal him. Rassilon had some kind of glove, it looked like the resurrection glove we used to bring back the other Owen. Then he left, with Lilly and her TARDIS Csheiko. The planet Gallifrey is restored, yet it doesn't seem right. What will the Doctor think? Can he stop Rassilon before he hurts anyone else?
